  • The Government's Green Deal initiative will now mandate a CO safety check be carried out by Insulation Installers.
    This will increase the opportunity for CO Alarm sales, of which Kidde have a
    very comprehensive range. This should now commence by April 2012, having suffered some delays.

  • Oct 31st 2012 CO Legislation in N Ireland:  New business opportunity

    All New Builds with any combustion appliance will have to have CO alarms fitted, as will any existing dwelling where a combustion appliance is changed.
    This legislation is following several Carbon Monoxide deaths that have occurred in recent years.

  • Legal Requirements from 1/1/11 require CO alarms being fitted where homes have concealed flues with no inspection hatches.

    The     Part J Building Reg opportunity (CO alarms mandated in New Build with solid fuel appliances & in existing homes who have new ones fitted).

Carbon Monoxide safety


Carbon Monoxide poisoning receives continuing press coverage as you will see in the News column on right hand side of our main website.
CO is a poisonous gas that is emitted when incomplete combustion of fossil fuel occurs; this can be from gas, lpg, charcoal, wood, paraffin etc.
Gas being the fuel of chice for most people, is the cause of most incidents.

Fire Safety- Fire Detection

 
The need for fire safety is well accepted and we offer the following categories of protection:
Detection: We offer a wide range of  Ionisation & Optical smoke alarms to give early warning of the danger of a fire,
and allow the residents to effect a safe escape. (Also available, Heat alarms).
Battery products are for self installation, whilst hard wired for professional fitting are needed for Building Regs compliance.

Fire Safety - Fire Suppression: Extinguishers


Most domestic fires are not even reported to the Fire Brigade, as householders feel confident to tackle small blazes themselves.
It makes sense to have the basic tools at hand, to do this safely. Our Fire Extinguishers (& Fire Blankets) are easy to use. 1 & 2kg Dry Powder Extinguishers are designed for domestic scale fires, those in small commercial premises, and vehicles.

Fire Safety - Fire Suppression: Blankets

Fire Blankets are typically used in kitchen fires. The kitchen is the source of most domestic fires.
Provided in wipe clean plastic containers, these can be installed under work surfaces, and we also have versions available where space is cramped such as caravans/boats.

Once used, the Blanket must be replaced!

Means of Escape:

Escape Ladders; available in 2 or 3 storey configurations, these fold up into a small area for storage. They may be stored under the bed or in a bedroom wardrobe.
If the dwelling has a fire the occupants may well discover their usual means of escape (ie down the stairs) is blocked by smoke & or flames. When this happens, Kidde's Escape Ladders enable a safe exit by securing the top of the ladder to the bedroom window ledge.
